It's the World Land Trust's Big Match Fortnight!
The World Land Trust is on a mission!
It’s just launched its BIG MATCH FORTNIGHT, always an exciting time of the year, to find out what their major project is for this very special appeal.
And this year – even more exciting I think – they have TWO threatened landscapes they are on a mission to save!
One is in Bolivia, where agricultural expansion is threatening vital habitat. And the World Land Trust has a window – a small window- to save one of the last strongholds for the Blue-throated Macaw. A terrifyingly low number of 700 are now in the wild. We need to save this land for them. Beni Savanna, Associación Armonía has created protected habitat for them, and the Big Match Fortnight appeal will expand that work, by securing another 636 hectares alongside them.
The other is in South Africa. The habitat of leopards is becoming more and more fragmented and threatened, due to commercial use. Wild places are replaced by farms and settlements, and divided by roads. It’s vital to protect the pieces of land which enable wildlife to move between the bigger wild areas. Wild Tomorrow is doing that by piecing a fragmented landscape together – a property at a time.
The video below from the World Land Trust's You Tube Channel shows some of the animals who will benefit from this appeal.
Over 1,600 species depend on these habitats.
This is a very exciting opportunity to contribute towards the protection of these landscapes, and – between 7th and 21st October, your donation will be doubled! This is as part of the World Land Trust’s Big Match Fortnight. Every year, there’s a different appeal during October, where donations are matched during a specific fortnight. Don’t miss the opportunity for your donation to have double the impact for wildlife!
The goal for the Big Match Fortnight 2026 is £866,339.
Good luck to the World Land Trust for this year’s Big Match Fortnight!!!
