Save the Rothbury Estate
There’s a MASSIVE appeal for £30 million by the Wildlife Trusts coming to its target in the UK.
It is HUGE – I can’t ever recall there being such a big appeal in the UK – and it’s to secure the Rothbury Estate. In short, a stunning piece of Britain stretching over 3,800 hectares.
With rolling moorlands, woodlands and starry skies, the Wildlife Trusts have an opportunity to secure this land, but they have to reach the target by September 2026. (I think it's the end of September.)
If the land is sold, the fear is that it could be sold off to developers. Skylarks, curlews, red squirrels and salmon are all depending on us to stop this happening.

I am sooo excited!
The Rothbury Estate Appeal (Wildlife Trusts) is rapidly approaching the end, and it is getting seriously, seriously close to the target!
In fact, it’s so close that the Wildlife Trusts have agreed in principle to secure a low-interest loan to bridge any gap that remains in funding. They need to raise £30 million by the end of October 2026 to secure the Rothbury Estate – and so far over £28 million has been raised.
BUT… BIG NEWS…..there’s another £150,000 Match!
Three amazing donors have come forward to fund another £150,000 match appeal – and as I type, just having received the email about it, the appeal is up to £11,699 already!!!
I’m off to donate again… we can’t lose this opportunity and it would be great to secure this Estate lock, stock and barrel, without any need for a loan. Wildlife are depending on all of us!

In addition to the great news below, another very kind donor has come forward to join one anonymous donor, the Walker Foundation, Ringtons, and the Dixon Foundation, namely The Spear Charitable Trust. Every donation made before 30 September will be doubled up to £800,000, so your gift could have twice the impact for nature! Your £1 becomes £2 at no extra cost to you! Fantastic!

As we gallop to the required £30 million, there’s a donor match up to £600,000 – which is currently about 85% of the way there, and probably closer still by the time this is up online. Thanks to an anonymous donor, The Dixon Foundation and Ringtons, every donation made before 30 September will be doubled up to £600,000.
