It's Plastic Free Month in July! #EndPlasticPollution #PlasticFree
The month of July Plastic Free July®, and a chance for us all to consider our use of plastic and reduce it – especially single use plastic.
Plastic Free July® is a global campaign, empowering millions of people to get involved. It was begun by Rebecca Prince-Ruiz, founder of the Plastic Free Foundation, and a small team in local government in Western Australia. So far, it’s inspired 100+ million participants in 190 countries! That's an amazing achievement - it just shows what a small group of people wanting to bring about change can do.
Many people think of sea life being affected by plastic, with millions of animals being injured or killed because of it; but it’s not just sea life who are affected. Working animal charity SPANA have made it their mission on their International World Animal Day in 2023 to raise awareness of the problems plastic is causing working animals.
SPANA is teaching owners about the dangers of plastic pollution to their working animals. They have an appeal to help provide urgent treatment to animals affected by eating plastic. You can donate here.
The RSPCA has more information about the dangers litter can cause to animals, including plastics. Find out more here.
Wherever you are, whether you’re an individual, a business, a school, a community, a family – there’s help for you to cut back your plastic use on the Plastic Free July website. We all need to keep this movement growing, for all our sakes, people and animals.
