Calling all koala lovers!

There’s great news from the Koala Clancy Foundation in Australia.

They are working frantically to plant 300,000 trees for koalas by 2030.   They set themselves this goal back in 2020.  This is because koalas need new habitat urgently, habitat that’s climate resilient.   This is especially so in the area near the You Yangs in Victoria.

Well, the Koala Clancy Foundation is over half way to  planting 300,000 trees!   They are up to 187,112 koala trees, and what’s more, they have noticed an increase in koala numbers at tree planting sites.  Which just goes to show that planting trees – the right sort of trees – helps koalas!

They’ve started to work on second HUGE habitat hub.  This is on a property by the Barwon River, and by the end of July, there will be over 20,000 trees there, tripling revegetation efforts there!

And there's more news....

And the Foundation is going back to Sutherlands Creek, the siting of a successful past project, where more native plants will be added.

The Foundation says that the property neighbouring their Moorabool River revegetation project in Maude has invited them to plant more trees to expand the project!  Not just “more” trees, but thousands more trees!

And the Koala Clancy Foundation are continuing the revegetation work with land managers of an Indigenous Protected Area.  This will transform land by what’s known as the Little River into a vibrant koala hub, right next to the You Yangs!

So how can we all help the Koala Clancy Foundation to help these gorgeous koalas?

Well, it costs $10 to plant one tree…. And the Foundation is looking to raise $50,000 (that’s Australian $)…. so all donations are welcome to help make this all happen! And the great thing is that it doesn't matter where you live - you can donate right across the world to help these adorable koalas!

As I’m so fond of saying, groups coming together for a common purpose – in this case, to help koalas – make such a difference.  And it's far better to take action and do something about something you care about than spending time worrying about it and doing nothing!
